Floorstanding speaker
The Wilson Raptor 9 Max is the largest and most powerful of the Raptor Series. It is identical in height to the Raptor 9, but 2.5 cm wider and 2 cm deeper.
It is a modern and powerful design, responding to the expectations of those users who appreciate the increased performance but are not indifferent to the aesthetics and classic timelessness of design. Like all new Wilson designs, it bears the words "Developed and Engineered in Denmark" on the nameplate, echoing Wilson's long-standing tradition of loudspeaker excellence and indicative of its collaboration with the Danish design office and Scandinavian tuning school.
Available in two finish colors, black and white, the speakers will make it easy for users to match them to their listening room or living room environment. In addition, the front-mounted Bass-Reflex port not only allows for much higher efficiency in the low-frequency range but also gives the possibility of placing the speakers much closer to the walls than it would be possible with speakers with the port placed at the back.
The reinforced structure of Raptor 9 Max enclosures has been carefully constructed from thick 18 mm MDF boards, covered with a durable and aesthetic layer of modern vinyl with a structure deceptively similar to the surface of wood finished with a slight gloss on the entire surface of the sidewalls, top, and rear. The front of the column is closed with a panel made of modern plastic in white and black colors respectively with a slight gloss. The plastic is resistant to color changes and undesirable effects of light and time, which is important, especially for white columns, which are placed in strongly insolated rooms. Black grilles covered with a specialized material acoustically almost neutral, are mounted on mounting studs, giving the possibility to cover the technical image of the columns.
Raptor 9 Max speakers are a three-way design of considerable size, characteristics, and power are intended for use in larger rooms, where they will show their full acoustic potential. Thanks to stronger cabinet construction elements and internal reinforcements, the whole is much less susceptible to vibration, and the already mentioned Bass-Reflex port outlet on the front wall allows for greater dynamics and bass depth. The whole can be seated stably on large aluminum cone-shaped spikes, supplemented with protective spike pads to protect the floor from scratches.
The crossover developed for this project ensures the consistency of sound of all elements in this construction. The enclosure houses two 8" (20.3 cm) woofers (20.3 cm) each, a 6.5" (16.5 cm) midrange driver, and a 1" (2.5 cm) tweeter with a textile dome. The drivers use tightly compressed cellulose membranes of the highest quality and high rigidity, as in the rest of the Raptor Series.
The speaker terminal panel is conveniently located in the low back of the cabinet. Gold-plated bi-wiring/bi-amping terminals allow independent connection of the woofer and mid-high frequencies. The terminal caps are large, angled for easy handling, and are color-coded to reduce the possibility of connection errors.
The speakers are designed to work with amplifiers from 50 to 250 watts. Both the size, power, and well-proven in other products of the brand construction of columns allow for a large music stage, in which the listener will be able to accurately locate in space the individual sources of sound. The sound is not offensive while letting the listener know that the source is a large driver with plenty of potentials. The whole is a carrier of a strong message with a significant load of energy and emotion while maintaining realism and well conveying the original intentions of the creators of music rich in content.
Raptor 9 Max loudspeakers, because of the size of the cabinet, the possibilities of a large set of drivers offer a solution that will be reached by music lovers with a little more space available in the listening room. They give more possibilities of adjustment to the Hi-Fi system and its power.
Like other speakers of the Raptor series, also 9 Max can be used as front speakers in multi-channel home cinema systems. Their choice will be appreciated by users with high expectations, demanding powerful impressions while watching movies. To complement them, there are numerous product options in the extensive series - rear effect speakers, center speakers, or higher-level speakers for the system supporting the Atmos surround sound. To complete the package, we also suggest using the current Wilson SUB Series subwoofers in your home theater.
